JAMB Subject Combination for Zoology 2025/2026

Studying Zoology in Nigerian universities, the general UTME subject combination includes English Language, Biology, and any two of Physics, Chemistry, or Mathematics. However, specific schools have their own special requirements:

  • PHC requires Biology and any two of Physics, Chemistry, or Mathematics for Animal and Environmental Biology.
  • AAU accepts Biology and Chemistry, while FED-LAFIA, WESTERN-DEL, IGBINEDION, and UNN require Biology, Chemistry, and either Physics or Mathematics. Other universities such as MAKURDI, EKSU, BENIN, and DELSU demand Biology, Physics, and Chemistry.

Some schools have additional specifications:

  • DELSU, EKSU, and IBADAN do not accept Agricultural Science as a Science subject, while UDU accepts it. Other schools like OSUSTECH and KWASU have unique subject requirements tied to related courses such as Fisheries or Mathematics. For example, BAUCHI requires Chemistry, Biology, and either Physics or Mathematics, and MAIDUGURI requires Biology and two from Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Agricultural Science, or Geography.

O’Level Subject Combination for Zoology 2025/2026

The O’level requirement for Zoology courses (UTME candidates) typically includes five SSC credit passes in English Language, Mathematics, Biology, and two other Science subjects. However, specific universities have their own special considerations. For example, LASU requires Chemistry along with an O’level pass in Physics, while AAUA requires an O’level credit pass in Chemistry as the fifth subject.

IMSU also requires an O’level pass in Physics, and IGBINEDION expects credit passes in English, Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry, and either Physics or another Science subject.

UNN requires five O’level credit passes, including Biology, English, Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry, with no more than two sittings. PHC for Animal and Environmental Biology requires five SSC credit passes in English, Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry, and Physics, while BAUCHIBENIN, and ILORIN demand O’level credit passes in English, Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry, and Physics. BENIN accepts a Science subject in place of Physics.

Universities like OAU and CALABAR require either Physics or Chemistry, while MAIDUGURI accepts an O’level pass in English and a credit pass in any Science subject. RSU requires five O’level credit passes, including English, Mathematics, Biology, Physics, and Chemistry. DELSU accepts Health/Science in place of Biology and does not require Mathematics.

Other institutions such as UMUDIKE and IBADAN accept credit passes in various combinations, but IBADAN excludes Agricultural Science. MAIDUGURI also requires credit passes in Chemistry and either Physics or Geography. UYO demands credit passes in Mathematics and Chemistry, potentially accepting D7 in Physics. KBSUST accepts Agriculture in place of Biology.

Universities like PAAUABSUFED-LAFIALAGOS, and WESTERN-DEL require credit passes in core Science subjects like English, Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry, and Physics. OSUSTECH and KWASU have specific subject combinations tied to Fisheries and Mathematics, respectively. Universities such as JOSBSU, and SOUTHWESTERN have slightly different O’level requirements, accepting alternative subjects in place of others, including Agriculture or Geography.

Finally, universities like FUTAFED-OYE EKITIBAYERO, and ILORIN accept five O’level credit passes in core Science subjects, with some allowing for specific alternatives, such as Geography or Agricultural Science, in place of certain subjects. FED-KASHERE and FED-DUTSINMA also require credit passes in similar core subjects but may accept additional alternatives like Geography or Health Science.

Direct Entry Subject Combination for Zoology 2025/2026

The Direct Entry (DE) requirements for Zoology courses typically include two ‘A’ level passes or NCE in Biology, Zoology, or Botany, along with another Science subject. Special considerations vary across universities.

For example, OAU accepts an ‘A’ level pass in Zoology or Botany, while CALABAR requires Chemistry and Mathematics/Physics. UNN accepts two ‘A’ level passes in Chemistry and Biology/Botany/Zoology and also considers a degree, HND, or NCE in relevant programs. IBADANEKSU, and OAU do not accept NCE qualifications, while UDU and ILORIN have specific requirements for Botany and Plant Biology.

Several universities, including IMSU and ABSU, do not offer Direct Entry options. UYO accepts ND/HND in relevant fields, along with UTME requirements, while LASU accepts Chemistry and Biology/Botany/Zoology, with an O’level pass in Physics. UMUDIKE and AAU accept ‘A’ level passes in Chemistry and one other Science subject, such as Biology, Botany, or Zoology.

MAUTY accepts HND lower credit in a relevant program, and DELSU accepts ‘A’ level passes along with ND upper credit in Science and Technology.

At IGBINEDION, two ‘A’ level passes are required, including Zoology and one other subject like Botany or Chemistry. The university also accepts ND/HND lower credits in Biology, Food Technology, or Botany. AAUA and EKSU require ‘A’ level passes in both Chemistry and Biology. LAGOS University accepts very good passes in three JUPEB/A-level subjects, namely Biology, Chemistry, and Physics.

IBADAN excludes Agricultural Science as a Science subject, while KBSUST accepts ‘A’ level passes in Chemistry and Biology/Agricultural Science, or an NCE in Agricultural Science.

Other universities like BENINILORIN, and ABU accept ‘A’ level passes in Biology, Zoology, and Chemistry, with specific additional conditions such as the inclusion of ND upper credit/HND lower credit or NCE merit in relevant subjects.

WESTERN-DEL and OSUSTECH have similar requirements, including two ‘A’ level passes in Biology, Botany, or Zoology, and another subject such as Chemistry, Physics, or Mathematics. Some universities, such as KWASUMAKURDI, and SOUTHWESTERN, accept combinations of ‘A’ level passes and specific field-related qualifications, including ND and HND in relevant programs.

Lastly, universities like FUTAFED-OYE EKITIBAYERO, and FED-LOKOJA accept ‘A’ level passes with required points in Biology, Chemistry, and other relevant Science subjects. For example, BAYERO accepts IJMB and NCE with a minimum of B grade, while FED-LOKOJA accepts IJMB and NCE credit passes, as well as ND upper credit in related fields.

Other institutions such as PHCFED-LAFIA, and FED-KASHERE offer additional pathways through IJMB, NCE, and HND qualifications, with specific subject requirements in Biology, Chemistry, and other relevant Science courses.
