Since its inception, JAMB has served as the bridge between secondary school graduates and higher education institutions in Nigeria. To gain admission into any Nigerian higher institution, you must take the JAMB examination.

In this post, we’ll cover essential details about JAMB, including the 2024 registration portal, the JAMB form, the registration process, and more.

Established by the Federal Government of Nigeria’s 1978 Act and revised in 1989 and 1993, JAMB oversees the placement of qualified candidates into tertiary institutions.

It conducts matriculation exams for universities, mono-technics, polytechnics, and colleges of education. The Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) is the test organized by JAMB for this purpose.

Each year, the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) administers a test to determine admissions into higher education. In 2020, a record 2.1 million candidates registered. JAMB scores range from 0-400 and are valid for one year.

JAMB decides Cut-off marks annually in collaboration with universities, polytechnics, and other stakeholders. For the latest policy, universities have a cut-off of 140, polytechnics 120, and colleges of education 100. A higher JAMB score improves your chances of admission.
