JAMB Subject Combination for Maths/Econs 2025/2026
The UTME subject combination for Mathematics and Economics includes Mathematics, Economics, and one other Science or Social Science subject. There is no special consideration (waiver) for this subject combination across universities.
For O’level requirements, candidates must have five (5) SSC credit passes, including English Language, Mathematics, Economics, and two additional subjects from Science or Social Sciences. This can be achieved in not more than two sittings. Special consideration for specific universities includes:
- BENIN accepts Mathematics, Economics, and any of Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Agricultural Science, Geography, or Government.
- MAUTY requires Economics/Commerce and two subjects from Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Agricultural Science, Geography, Government, Financial Accounting, or Computer Studies/IT.
For Direct Entry (DE), candidates must have two ‘A’ Level passes, including Mathematics and Economics, achieved in not more than two sittings. Other acceptable qualifications include ND upper credit in Mathematics/Statistics, Computer Science, Accounting, or Business Studies from a recognized Polytechnic or College of Technology, or HND lower credit in similar fields. NCE credit in Mathematics and Economics from a recognized College of Education is also accepted, provided the candidate has merit.
Special considerations for Direct Entry candidates include:
- BENIN requires that candidates meet the UTME requirements in addition to the Direct Entry qualifications.
- MAUTY accepts two ‘A’ Level passes in Mathematics and any of Economics, Statistics, Geography, or Business Management, as well as HND/ND credit in Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or Mathematics Education, and NCE credit in Mathematics and Economics. Additionally, MAUTY accepts IJMB with at least eight points, including credit in both Mathematics and Economics.
