JAMB Subject Combination for Statistics 2025/2026

The JAMB requirement for Statistics (UTME candidates) includes English Language, Mathematics, and any two of the following: Physics, Chemistry, and Economics. However, there are special considerations for different universities. For instance, OAU and Ibadan do not accept economics, while BIU, Bowen, and KUST accept mathematics and two, chemistry, physics, and biology.

Several universities have specific combinations: Ibadan requires Mathematics and any two Science subjects; IMSU mandates Mathematics and Physics; and Ilorin accepts Mathematics and any two of Chemistry, Physics, Economics, and Geography. Other universities, like UDU and PHC, may also have slight variations in their subject combinations.

Other institutions, such as UNN, FUTA, and ABU, require combinations including Mathematics and subjects like Physics, Chemistry, Economics, Geography, or Biology. Some universities like Fed-Lafia, LAUTECH, and FUNAAB require Mathematics, Chemistry, and Physics, while others like Minna and BSU have specific requirements for Science subjects alongside Mathematics.

O’Level Subject Combination for Statistics 2025/2026

The O’level requirement for Statistics (UTME candidates) includes five credit passes in subjects such as English Language, Mathematics, and any three of the following: Physics, Statistics, Chemistry, Further Mathematics, Economics, and Geography. Some universities have special considerations or additional requirements for their programs. For example, UNIZIK and AAU accept an ‘O’ Level pass in English, while IBADAN does not accept Economics as a science subject and requires five or six credit passes in specific subjects across one or two sittings.

Some institutions have more specific subject combinations. PHC, for instance, requires Chemistry, Physics, and one of Biology, Geography, or Economics, while UMUDIKE demands credit passes in Physics/Mathematics, Chemistry, and Biology. Universities like FUNAAB and ABU require Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry as core subjects, with certain institutions like ABU and EKSU specifying additional science subjects like Biology and Geography.

Universities such as FUTA and MAUTY also have particular subject requirements, such as the inclusion of Economics, Biology, Chemistry, or Geography, alongside Mathematics and Physics. In addition, some schools, like FED-WUKARI and ILORIN, may have slight variations but generally require the inclusion of science subjects in their O’level combinations.

Certain universities, like FUTO and BAYERO, require five credit passes in core subjects, including Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, and a choice of other science subjects, while others like KASU and FED-KASHERE focus on the inclusion of subjects such as Further Mathematics, Geography, or Biology in their O’level requirements. Each institution may accept a combination of subjects from SSCE, NECO, or NABTEB, but it’s important to check specific requirements for your intended school.

Direct Entry Subject Combination for Statistics 2025/2026

The Direct Entry requirements for Statistics programs at Nigerian universities include a variety of qualifications depending on the institution. Most universities accept two ‘A’ Level passes in subjects such as Mathematics or Statistics, with additional requirements varying by university.

Some institutions accept National Diploma (ND) or Higher National Diploma (HND) in Statistics or related fields, with specific credit levels required, such as Upper Credit for ND holders. Similarly, NCE (National Certificate in Education) with merit grades in Mathematics and related subjects may also be considered for admission.

Several universities have specific subject requirements. For example, Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU) mandates Physics or Chemistry in addition to Mathematics. The University of Ibadan (UI) requires two ‘A’ Level passes in Mathematics along with five ‘O’ Level credits, including English.

The University of Ilorin (UNILORIN) accepts two ‘A’ level passes in Mathematics and other relevant subjects, while the Federal University of Technology, Owerri (FUTO) insists on ‘A’ Level passes in Mathematics and Physics, along with a range of possible ND or HND qualifications.

Other institutions have slightly different criteria. For instance, the University of Uyo (UYO) accepts ND with upper credit, while the University of Jos (UNIJOS) does not accept a Diploma in Computer Science.

Some schools, such as the University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN), and the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB), allow for a combination of qualifications, including NCE, ND, or HND in relevant subjects, in addition to meeting UTME requirements.

Certain universities emphasize specific programs or qualifications, such as the Federal University of Lafia (FED-LAFIA), which requires two ‘A’ Level passes including Mathematics or Statistics, and the University of Lagos (UNILAG), which accepts JUPEB or ‘A’ Level passes in Physics, Mathematics, and another science subject.

Some universities also have specific exclusions, like the University of Jos (UNIJOS), which does not accept a Diploma in Computer Science, or Lagos University (UNILAG), which requires a credit pass in Further Mathematics at the O’ Level.

Lastly, universities like the Federal University of Makurdi (MAKURDI) and the Federal University of Kashere (FED-KASHERE) align with broader national trends, accepting a variety of A’ level qualifications in Mathematics, Physics, and other sciences, alongside NCE and ND qualifications.
